Check Flight
The lack of thermal activity during the winter takes its toll on the most stable of us.  A certain CFI, not a thousand miles from this club was doing a check flight for a passenger rating with a competent but impressionable pilot.

The CFI stressed the need for calm deliberate gentle flying.  During the first part of the flight the checkee complied.  During a calm deliberate gentle turn, the outside wing was calmly, gently and deliberately buffetted.  The checkee ignored it.  Immediately a calm, deliberate and gentle voice from the back seat yelled "what the hell do you think you are doing?  that was a thermal!  Turn you bastard, turn!!"
