Not so much to write about for the day but some good flying for those that were there.  First off, Les took Tim Hardwick-Smith for his BFR.  He must have passed for he was off later for a two hour flight.  Les took Logan Boyde for a trial flight and Logan was well pleased.  His father remembers being in the ATC and having winch flights from us at Stratford.  Then Les in WZ, me in XC and John Tullett were all off for two hours flights, John doing an hour twenty.  Tim, the last one to launch in his Pik 30 got to 5000ft and out near Kapuni.  Les had pushed out near to the Waitara river in the Purangi area.  John not too far away.

The Discus was saved after the pilot decided to fly a bit further south and made good use of lift from gas flares from well at Cheal Road and near Wingrove Road.  Much more peace of mind.  So, a good day all round before the SE gales hit on Sunday night.
