Only one flying day in August and one in September so far.  Tim & the Discus plundering the few available thermals and a couple of flights for Glyn and also for Anirudh Tyagi who is thinking of joining and learning to fly.

Reports to the AGM mentioned the big increase in solo single-seat flying
and the steady increase in membership over the years.  The Normona Cup to
Glyn Jackson for his flight at Matamata and the Ranges Cup to Will Hopkirk for the best height achieved.   Most improved pilot award to Glyn.  I think he managed to blush.  Well done.

I should have related in the last Recent News that, at the Gliding New Zealand AGM, Tim Hardwick-Smith was awarded the OLC prize for flights made during
the past season.  Entering this was Glyn’s idea and he came second.
No changes for club officialdom this year.  But, alas,James Walker has retired
from the committee and flying membership for the meantime. Many thanks James for your efforts as club President and Treasurer over recent years.

You helped carry the club through a difficult time.

At the moment, our tow-plane is having its annuals completed – the paper work that is.  The airframe is in top order and the engine still hanging in there.  How much longer is anyone’s guess.  Provision for this continues to occupy the Treasurer’s thoughts.
